SG'er
Wondering if anyone has done this-i've got a gibson SG with the "Gibson" in gold lettering on the headstock.I've got a new overlay with "Gibson" in MOP & some fancy inlay also. How do i go about removing old overlay(i'd like to save it but doesn't matter if it gets wrecked) and what type of glue do i use for new one. This guitar has been completely stripped of old finish, been sanded and has sprayed with 1 coat of sand & sealer lacquer so far.Any help or thoughts would be great. Thanks SG'er

SG'er
Thanks for the info lucky1 The SG is a 92' and previous owner had already routed out pickup cavity to accept a third pickup(like a custom). So no big deal about modifying it.Was going to try a hairdryer to remove overlay.Btw it seems to be made out of paper type material the overlay on it now.Let you know how it goes.
