BeAR Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3749180244 http://www.godrules.net/images/PEARL6V_eSMALL.jpg http://www.godrules.net/images/PEARL6V_cSMALL.jpg Anyone seen these before? Jem and PGM knock off's. I just bought one to see what they are like. I picked the white Jem. I figure if the quality is ok then Ill replace the pickups and bridge. If i sux, Ill prolly just keep the body and part out the rest on ebay. I should get my money back on the pieces without a problem. Body is basswood so there shouldnt be any problems there. The monkey grip needs some minor routing to be correct and the jack socket needs to be replaced with the correct barrell jack. Hell I might even attempt the lions claw tutorial Brian did a while ago. The headstock just needs a small amount of wood removed to be the correct shape. I should get it within the week. Quote
american_jesus Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 they really do look pretty cool...they could be decent...who knows. let us know how they are... Quote
Uncle Os Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 That looks a LOT like a guitar made by a place in China that builds nothing but Ibanez knock-offs. From what I've read/been told, the quality is for shite. If I'm not mistaken, the prices are at or about the $200.00 USD range. From what I could tell on the english version of the company's site, the neck and body are made out of decent lumber. I can't remember what the name of the company is though. I'll see if I can find more info. MLAR, Cor Quote
Maiden69 Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Looks ok BeAR, good luck on this project, keep us updated. Quote
javacody Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 With these Chinese companies, its not just a question of the type of lumber used, but also how well the lumber was dried and the quality of the lumber used. You never know though, it could end up being a pretty good guitar. Quote
BeAR Posted September 19, 2004 Author Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hey Uncle 0s, if you could find the info on the manufacturers site that would be great. Quote
Northendem Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 It's going to be hell with that Licensed Floyd...........the Ibanez models are way better Quote
Uncle Os Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hey Uncle 0s, if you could find the info on the manufacturers site that would be great. Hey there BeAR... I've looked all over the darn place and came up empty handed. I found some links to pix that are now defunked. Sorry I came up short on this one. I know you'd certainly like some more information. Nouseforone Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 i saw those on ebay before, if someone had extra cash, could be worth a shot Quote
mushy the shroom Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hmm.. if the neck is ok, the only things to replace are the hardware, pickups, and floyd. I would estimate that at.. $400 if you get the best.. So.. a JEM for about $600? Pretty good! Quote
bowser Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 imo it would be easier to pick up a rg5xx and do the work to that, since it is essentially a Jem already - then all you need to replace are the pups, do some body mods, and it would probably be around $450 Quote
