Kevan
Here we go folks. Posting Of Pictures: - ALL pics are to be no more than 640x480 pixels. - UP TO FOUR PICTURES PER POST MAX., except in the Tutorial sections, where you are allowed up to 10 pics per post. - All subsequent (following) pics in a post are to be linked. DO NOT USE THE "IMG" TAG for pics 5, 6, 7, 8, etc. - DO NOT HOT-LINK TO PICS NOT OWNED BY YOU AND ON YOUR OWN SERVER. Use the URL tag instead to provide a link to the pic. - ABSOLUTELY NO PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL IS TO BE POSTED. Posting of such will result in an IMMEDIATE ban from the site. "Guitar porn" excluded. :-) - When quoting a post with a pic in it, CHANGE THE 'IMG' TAG TO A LINK, or remove it from your post. - Keep the pics on topic in each thread. Language: "Clean language" means what you can say on a major television network. 'Damn' and 'Hell' are pretty much the limits. If Brian or I see or hear about a possible infraction, the person will get ONE warning, and their post will be edited. There is no second warning; only a nice break where you can read-only. Signatures: Your signature is to be text only. Pics/banners are big bandwidth hogs, and take up a lot of "screen real estate". When you're searching for the metric screw size of Wilkinson saddle screws, you don't want to have to scroll for days. So, for now...here's how it works: Text only signatures. 2 lines max. You may have a non-business link in your signature. You may have a business link in your signature if you are a site sponsor (as determined by Brian). As of Sept. 1, 2004, if your signature doesn't comply with the above, we will remove the entire signature. Smilies: USE SOME SELF-CONTROL, PEOPLE! 25 smilies across a line is completely out of control. One works just fine. The menu is there to help you choose; not help you populate. Post Editing/Flood Control If you're within 5 minutes of your last post, just edit your first one. Esp. if it's only 3 or 4 words to add. You're wasting screentime, scroll time and our time with (2) three-word posts back to back. Flood Control (allowed time between posts) has been set to 2 minutes (120 seconds). Post Count: Post count will be going away very soon. These new rules and forum changes are NOT debatable. We will update this post as necessary. Thanks for taking the time to read all of it. Tyrssen
Hello! I'm new here; love the site!!! So much to learn. BUT, one "minor" gripe: sometimes the spelling makes me cringe! I know, this stuff may not seem important, but it makes one look ignorant, when one is not. For instance: pics are the property of the "perspective owner"? Please get a dictionary, or your 4th grade english book, and learn the difference between "perspective" and "respective." "Course" sandpaper? The writer actually meant "coarse," of course. And it took me a minute or two to realize that one writer was discussing a neck "heel," not a neck "heal." When ya spread mis-spellings like that across the 'net in big, bold letters ... well ... y'know. As a former English major (college level,) I bemoan the downward spiral that is dragging English to extinction. As Professor Higgins said, in "My Fair Lady:" "There even are places where English has completely disappeared; in America, they haven't used it for years." This may be minor stuff but kee-rikeys, ladies an' gents! Let's pretend we're educated! Quote Link to comment
westhemann
Way to go,alienate the forum on your first post. Boorishness is worse than spelling errors...especially when most of the "errors" can be attributed to posting from internet phones. 2 Quote Link to comment
Mender
Welcome to the internet, where spelling mistakes, incorrect use of words, poor grammar, are all part of it. Not everyone is an English scholar. Mixing up there, their, and they're, and your and you're, is acceptable as long as the general meaning is understood by the reader. You have to accept it, or stay off internet forums - simple. The only thing I ever comment on concerning posts is when someone writes 30 lines of text with no commas, full stops, or separate paragraphs, as it is very difficult to follow, but I don't slag the person off, I simply suggest they format the post to make it more legible. I never criticise poor spelling by other people Quote Link to comment

demonx
To the above post regarding spelling mistakes, there are MANY members here where English is not their first language. It comes with the territory, this is the Internet. My biggest complaint about the OP is the pic restrictions. This is going to KILL the in progress builds thread which to be honest is the most interesting part of the whole site. These restrictions, especially the 4 pics in your first post then links for all following pic. People are too lazy to click links. Theyre meant to be picture threads, not link threads. I havnt sized a pic to the max size yet, but it seems too small. I'll have a look at this later when I'm not on my mobile Just my opinion EDIT: I just noticed this is an old thread ... So basically everyone breaks these pic posting rules and has for years... Quote Link to comment
westhemann
EDIT: I just noticed this is an old thread ... So basically everyone breaks these pic posting rules and has for years... Yes.It's really only a guideline, and it's one that has never applied to the build(tutorial)threads, only other topics. Quote Link to comment
Bmth Builder
That's a really outdated rule and should be changed, internet speeds have come a long way in 8 years, most people can load pictures these days Edited May 30, 2012 by Neil Beith Quote Link to comment
westhemann
It's not an issue Quote Link to comment
Maiden69
I edited that in 2008 when we decided that restricting to 4 pics per post on the build-tutorial threads was more of a hasle for the poster was well as for the member viewing the thread... I don't see why you would need to post more than 4 pics in other topics. And as Wes said, it is not an issue. As far as internet, check with Brian (site owner), he may have some high speed internet finally but until a few years back he was still running dial up. Quote Link to comment
Prostheta
Nice post Tyrssen. That should win you plenty of admiration. Quote Link to comment
Osorio
I just see now the new rules, and have post some new pics in 2mpix resolution instead vga listed into the new rules. I'm sory and will have more atention with this in the future. Would like to know if my signature it's into the rules agreament? Quote Link to comment
Prostheta
In general, it is better to stick to the two lines as Brian states. Signatures are ideally meant to be unobtrusive rather than being a big banner of information whanged at the end of each post. The focus is meant to be on thread content. Quote Link to comment
Breandan
That would be one of the overall problems diluting society: do it wrong enough for long enough and no one will care anymore. Quote Link to comment
loos
I'm still trying to figure out the photograph posting routine. I've been asked for pictures of my Massy "The Vibe" amp. I've gotten the pictures down to the 640X480 limit although I doubt if they will be useful for more than a general impression. Do I just cut and paste? I presume that jpg is format of choice. I've been going over and over this looking for a photo tool but haven't found it and, as you can tell from my portrait I'm slow. Quote Link to comment
Tim37
first you need to find a site to host i use photo bucket. from there you just need to get the link to the pic then for larger photos post a link if you want to pic to show up in the thread hit the button that looks like a old polaroid then post the link in there and it will show. Prostheta
There are online tools for resizing images. I think googling "image resizer" is what you need iirc. I will write a tutorial on this. Quote Link to comment
