Hi. im new to the board but not to project guitar and i have a question... the question is born out of stupidity. the neck at the heel end of the guitar has to be 73mm wide... which wouldn't be a problem except for the wood that im using for the neck only being 69mm wide.... the neck is going to be a bolt on and is there any way to pack out the neck that wont effect the sound? i.e use some ply wood in the middle or even laminate the two pieces that i have already and even use wood filler to pack it out....

Im asking cause if i need to get some more maple i need to drive about an hour to get it B)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would rip it down the middle and add a strip of something like purpleheart or ebony, or something dark. Even home centers will usually have some Walnut 1x2's or 1x4's or something else that you can use. I wouldn't try to add to each side, although that would be fine too. It just wouldn't look as good.

The maple isn't laminated yet, so im still "safe" so to speak. i was thinking of something dark but not ebony as out where i live it's pretty expensive... so it would still have to be a decent sort of wood or the sound will just decay... oh well. time fora long drive :D

thanks B)
