sepultura999 Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 How do I fix a ceased volume on a guitar? The only way I can get full volume is through the amp, -Jamie Quote
rick_here Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 (edited) 'Not sure what yer asking, Jamie.... Is this an acoustic guitar that "works thru the amp" (if you mike it/ you meant)? If it's a regular ol' "pot" (potentiometer)...they cost anywhere from about 3 to 15 bucks. You may just need a new one if that's what you "have"...if the thing's (really) "dead." But first check the pot to see if any of the soldering has become disconnected. If so, resolder it. Also, check the ground-wiring; if it's properly "grounded." Does it make any kinds of sounds when you adjust the volume? I'm not an "expert," btw, but I know ya have to have a good ground & soldering joints. Edited October 11, 2004 by rick_here Quote
Jehle Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 I think that's a seized pot. Well, you fix those by chucking them and replacing them with a new one. Quote
rick_here Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 (edited) Yeah, (prolly) that.... PS, Jehle (or would that be "Jelly?").......Ppl regularly mess-up my last name too. Anywayz, as an aside to the thread's topic.... I'm working on my 1st Project Guitar, more or less, and just happened to notice this: Yer Winning! Guitar of the Month (from November, last year)....very nice job! I visited yer website and have tried to find links (to "Amber" here at PG). With no luck. That's a Hipshot bridge, isn't it? (What I'm planning on using). Got a link? (ISO: specs & so on). Thanx, in advance, if ya have the time. Edited October 13, 2004 by rick_here Quote
