pour bleeding me
Ok so i had another idea on how to mod my JCM 800...this time a little bit more practical...i never touch the knobs on my amp cuz i love my tone the way it is...and i can tell if they have been moved at all...so i thought i would just recess the knobs in the amp...so you coulnt move em..or they couldnt get knocked..so we opened it up and recessed the knobs and turned it on and the amp didnt work..not to mention there was electricity flowing through the front of the amp....i think because the amps pots are grounded to each other and the pots were touching the front panel of the amp...(i got a little buzz from it haha)...so we put it back together and now it works thank god....so my question is... how do i recess the knobs so the amp works and doesnt have electricty flowing through all the metal in the amp? thanks
lovekraft
Set the amp, then remove the knobs, put a small drop of CA (Superglue®) on each shaft so it won't move, cut the shafts off flush with the surface using a small hacksaw, and cover the whole surface of the face plate with some sparkly holographic foil tape to cover up the ugly stumps. Seriously, I hope you can afford to replace that amp, because it's just a matter of time before you kill either it or yourself. Good luck with it. PS Having power on the faceplate is a bad thing! kenneth_b
Not to be a smart alec or anything, but wouldn't it just be easier to write the settings you like on a sticky note? Hell, you could even have a printed card laminated to the back or top of the amp. Lovekraft has already pointed out the dangers of power on the face plate. Now that I'm older, on the downward slope toward 90, little things like getting a buzz from an electical appliance don't seem so funny. Tread lightly.
