Thinking About Building Lp

Recommended Posts

Okay, here's the deal. I've been playing guitar for over a year now and I've been stuck with a Yamaha strat from one of those packs. It's worked fine, but I want something with more of my own style.

I looked into Epiphone Les Paul Standards but then I noticed all these things about building guitars. Seemed interesting so I did some research.

Seeing as this would be the first guitar I've ever built, (if i decide to) I was thinking about bypassing a lot of the wood work and getting a pre-cut body and neck and just buying the parts to put in. I can't seem to find a place to buy a body though for a reasonable price with pre-cut holes for the hardware.

If anyone could give me a place that is reliable and relatively cheap to get a body from (doesn't have to be painted) I would be grateful. And if anyone else has advice on whether it is really worth it to build a guitar the way I want it or to spend 500 and up on an epiphone, that would be great.

Thanks

P.S. I didn't see any topics relating to pre-cut bodies because I searched so I made this topic (don't flame me please :D )

I like the look of that second link...but that is pre-built I think (but it's cheap enough that I don't care...)

Do you have any experience with that company? And what about those pickups...do you think they would need to be upgraded for better sound?

hmm...

i don't know...i just ordered one today.i hear they are good quality but if you wait a couple of weeks i will have it in and will review it

I am assuming that is the only color and style you can get it in...I really would like a nice dark blue LP with gold hardware and a gold pick guard...yeah, that would look nice

Where did you hear about this company?

go here

there are 3 pages of really cheap lps and others

this type of guitar has been talked about on this forum and harmony central for quite a while

i really doubt that the quality is top notch...but it is a good start to buy upgrades for if you really don't have the time and money to build one

yeah, I found it after I posted, but thanks anyways.

I think this could be a nice deal, I found a blue quilt top like I wanted...doesn't have gold hardware, but hey...you get what you pay for

thanks for your help
