joker77x Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Hey I was giving my old vintage V guitar a brand new paint job, i really wanted to do polka dots. I just stripped all paint but now i am having trouble doing polka dots, I originally wanted to cut out the dots from painters tape but now I realize its not as easy as i thought. I was wondering if any one knew how to do it any other way. -Thanks Quote
JTisMe Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 something like this would be easy http://store.yahoo.com/data-labels/roundlabels.html i'm sure walmart/target/walgreens etc... has plenty of similar choices. just lay a nice coat down of the color you want the dots to be. place the dots, spray your body cover, peel and clear :-) -jeff Quote

rhoads56 Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 What you need to do, is find a luthier thats already got self adhesive masking flim, precut for Randy Rhoads style polka dot finishes. Maybe, hint hint, he might sell you some and save you a lot of time. Quote
Gregory Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Try these maybe drafting dots good luck Quote

rhoads56 Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 thanks so much guys especialy gregory for your comments i really appreciate it and will get started on it. Except it will only take you, ohh, a day to lay out the dots, and umm, way too long to remove them (before the paint starts drying, which lifts the paint as you pull the dots). Good luck!! You want masking film with the dots cut out, so it can be pulled off in one sheet, straight after spraying. Quote

Hmmm, now Perry, you wouldn't happen to know of someone, possibly in the lower hemisphere, who may have these, after say, building a batch for sale would you? Quote
rhoads56 Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I would just happen to know someone who meets that description, yes Quote
guitar_ed Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Silly idea but.... How about blue painters tape a hole punch? It would be small dots, but the tape would be easily removable. Guitar Ed Maybe not the best idea I've ever had. Quote
