BassGod
I'm thinking about adding a drop top to a neck through I have and was wondering if anyone has any tips about routing down the area around the neck. goth_fiend
what i would do is use a bench plane to level the entire top then retop it, it takes a while to do that, but it will probably yeild the best results
BassGod
Thanks gothfiend. I'm not reallt experienced with the benck plane thing, so I smell a hack job a comin! Any reccomendations on a good one?
goth_fiend
i would look for an OLD bailey #6 bench plane, the mexican luthiers that used to work for bernie rico @ the bc rich custom shop used them and there stuff is known as some of the higest quality customs out of the 70's/early 80's, they take a bit of getting used to but i can rough out a neck thru blank in about an hour with one, and im still getting used to it! just take your time and remember measure twice cut once man! Drak
If you're going to be putting a new top on the guitar, the neck has to come off, there is no 'routing around it'.

BassGod
Your saying I would have to cut the body wings off to redo the top?
