boogienuts
i'm trying to add tone control (on the bottom tone knob) to the bridge humbucker on a MIM Fat strat. from what i've read this sould be really easy. the red line is the lead i added but it doesnt sound right. it almost sounds like the tone knob works in reverse for the bridge pu. if someone could check this an tell me what did wrong i would be mighty gratful. Drawing of the connection I made
lovekraft
Yup, that definitely won't work! You're either gonna have to add another pot, or not have a tone pot on one of the other pickups. The old-school hack was to disconnect the middle pickup from its tone pot and hook up the bridge to it (because people seldom used the tone on the middle pickup). The other soution is to get a dual concentric pot and wire two separate tone controls.

The GREEN one or the BLACK & WHITE ones?
lovekraft
No, leave the yellow wire alone - disconnect the white wire coming from the tone pot from that terminal, and connect it to the hot lead from the bridge pickup (I can't tell which one that is from your diagram - you appear to have both bridge pickup leads connected to the same terminal in your drawing).
