Dugz Ink
I just got to play a Yamaha AES-800 at a local guitar shop, and I went crazy over the sounds that are coming out of the 5-way switch. Now I'm wondering how I would set my humbuckers to get the same effects. The only thing I can find on the Yamaha site is this comment: "The 800's unique wiring scheme includes a 5-way switch and extra tone pot that let you combine its pickups in varying out-of-phase combinations. This "realtime phase control" unleashes many captivating colors unattainable on most humbucker-equipped guitars." Does anybody have any ideas or answers? Dugz Ink
I found something Stwe-Mac's site about the 4-pole 5-position switch, but nothing (yet) about Yamaha's wiring. Is this like some sort of engineering secret? D~s

Dugz Ink
No... I'm not just talking to myself; I'm posting all relevant info to one thread... in case somebody needs similar info in the future. Then ther will be a thread full of links that they can use. And here's a link to the latest related site: killer switches at All Parts. I guess some people know all about that site, but this is the first time I have ever seen (or even heard of) this site, and I figure there are other newbies out there who need this type of info, too. I hope it helps soebody besides me. D~s
lovekraft
Here's three more options, courtesy of Guitar Electronics http://guitarelectronics.zoovy.com/product/WDUHH5L1101 Coil Taps http://guitarelectronics.zoovy.com/product/WDUHH5L1102 Parallel Inner and Outer Coils http://guitarelectronics.zoovy.com/product/WDUHH5R1101 The infamous McCarty® rotary switch I often use a variation of that second example, but with inner and outer coils wired in series, for some Red Special-ish tones. The possible combinations are limited only by your imagination and your ingenuity, but keep in mind that some of them may be totally useless, so let your ears decide.
