thirdstone Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Can anyone tell me some ballpark figures for setting up my spraygun ?Its a suction type touchup gun I am guessing the air pressure should be about 40psi.I am finding that the paint is going on too dry and I can`t seem to make a differance either by air pressor paint/air mix. thirdstone Posted November 14, 2004 Author Report Posted November 14, 2004 Ok I`ll reply to myself for anyone with the same question.I found that 30psi best as it was a good compromise for coverage.40-50 psi tended to blast the laquor on resulting in a dry finnish. One other thing for spray painting newbes like myself ,mix the laquor 50% with thinners for the base coat then I find that an increase of the thinner to laquor ratio to around 60 / 40 % (ie 60 % laquor ) gave a smoother finnish as it lets the laquor flow out better because its thinner. However its more prone to running so be a bit careful.
