Paul Marossy
OK, here's the deal - I bought a brand new Strat copy neck off of ebay that has the nut shaped for a Floyd Rose locking trem nut. I received it today, but it has one small problem: the flattened area at the nut is only 3/8" wide instead of the 5/8" wide nut that I have. Is there some other kind of Floyd Rose nut other that the standard 1-5/8"x5/8" ones?!
goth_fiend
they also make an 1 11/16" nut that im aware of, but thats it unless you go into 7's
RAI6
Well, maybe it's not made for Floyd nut, but some generic crap? Now, I don't know what type of locking nut would fit in a 3/8" slot. Seems awfully narrow, doesn't it?
soapbarstrat
sounds like the width of those first roller nuts Fender came out with in the early 90's (or was it the late 80's ?) http://dotnetjunkies.com/WebLog/images/dot...r_headstock.jpg Edited November 16, 2004 by soapbarstrat

You know, I bet you are right on that one. I have figured out a way to modify the neck slightly so that I can use the hardware that I have, so I think I can still use this neck. Thanks for the responses.
GuitarMaestro
Yes it's definatley a neck made for a roller nut....but putting a usual floyd nut there may not work, because I doubt the routing depth needed for a roller nut is the same. So you will have to make the nut route deeper or shim the new nut in order to get a good action.
