stoo
I've never seen natural binding in person so I have a question. Can you actually get the natural binding to extend onto the top of the quitar a few millimeters or is it best to just put it on the side of the guitar at the side/top transition? How the hell would you mask something like that (on the top)? Thanx all! Stew
Setch
Mask the sides, then scrape the stain back on the top until you get the result you're after. Some builders mask a negative image of the binding first, then apply lacquer just on the unmasked binding area. This seals the binding so that no dye can penetrate and cause problems later. Scroll down this link to see David Myka sealing then staining to create faux binding.
