maxxslipknot Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 i want to make a 8 string guitar and i want to use a EMG active bass pickup the EMG-45DC, ive heard of guitars with this pickup and i want to know if anyone has heard one of these, theyre known to have really clean high notes, besides i want to use a set of strings thats real low on the bass side and really high on the treble side, i just want to sweep on it till my fingers bleed any tips or ideas? thedoctor Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Yeah, I used to use them on monster neck 5-string basses. Low noise, clean powerful signal, clear highs and no character whatsoever. Sterile, you could say. A VMC by EMG is bare minimum. A full 3-band Angulair whould be even better. Go 18volt for sure. No dyn.range/headroom at 9volt. Don't set them as close to the strings as EMG tells you to. Gets in the way when you fall headfirst "in the groove". I hate when that happens. Quote
