TMC Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I recently installed a Stew-Mac/Bill Lawrence humbucking pickup in a guitar. The pickup is wired directly to the volume pot, no switch, no capacitors. According to the wiring diargrams it's wired correctly, but when I turn down the volume, the tone seems to be turning down with it. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks, TMC Quote
westhemann Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Any ideas why this is happening? yes...because it is normal. Quote
JohnnyG Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 like wes said it happens. some people put a small capacitor across the volume pot lugs to counteract this. the other alternative if you really want is to put active circuitry inside which can get around it but thats a whole new kettle of fish Quote
lovekraft Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Like Johnny said, a 100-150 pF cap connected between the pickup lead and the jack lead on the volume pot should eliminate most of your problems. This was a feature of almost all the Telecasters made in the 50s, and seems to work even better with humbuckers (thanks again, Leo). Quote
