Myka Guitars
I just found a great jig idea for carving necks with a shaper. Check it out: M. Campellone Guitars shop tour (page 27)
jay5
Cool setup! There is a picture in the current Grizzly tools catolog of a similar setup used by the pres. of the company. Wish I could afford a shaper! Thanks Myka!
Cloud
The jig itself would be cheap to make but that bit probably costs about 100-200. I know a pair of shapers I seen for crown molding run 120 for a pair.
jay5
Thats true Cloud. I dont know if it's my lack of confidence when it comes to wood working or an appreciation for smart design, but I love it when I see a clever jig or fixture that can fascilitate rapid and accurate parts. God I'm such a dork.
ddgman2001
I used to carve necks that way. It works OK, but can cause 1/4 sawn wood to blow out in a big way. Scared the !@#$ out of me.
