Jehle Posted December 19, 2004 Report Share Posted December 19, 2004 You don't have to prevent the lacquer from getting in there. Fender used to candy coat maple necks even over the frets in the old days. Since you've taped the fretboard I can assume that you have a rose wood fretboard or some other non-maple wood.
