mattdowney Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 (edited) hello, i am starting to design my second guitar project. i am going to build a charvel style guitar, a strat body with a jackson/charvel style pointy headstock. here are my specs so far - strat style body - 24 fret jackson style neck - humbucker in the bridge and 2 singles in the neck and middle positions, or 2 humbuckers - 2 volume 1 tone ,coil tap on the humbucker or humbuckers - natural finish - mahogany body (maybe) with a flamed maple top - all gold hardware i am thinking about a floyd but it might end up being a hardtail. the body will be a strat style body, i may slightly change it, maybe a bit more like a jackson soloist, but more towards a strat. i am going to do a all natural finish, just a clear coat no painting or staining. i am thinking about a mahogany body with a flamed maple top. i want a bright sounding guitar, how will this sound? here are 2 pictures of the sorta colour scheme i am going for: picture picture 2 i am not sure when i am starting it yet, maybe after christmas or later this winter. does anyone have any imput for my project? woods? later on, matt Edited December 18, 2004 by mattdowney Quote
Drak Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 If you want it sort of bright, then I recommend Alder over Mahogony any day. It's cheaper, and you can stain it to look like Mahogony if you want to. Actually Alder doesn't look bad completely natural either IMO. Quote
