hello, i am starting to design my second guitar project. i am going to build a charvel style guitar, a strat body with a jackson/charvel style pointy headstock.

here are my specs so far

- strat style body

- 24 fret jackson style neck

- humbucker in the bridge and 2 singles in the neck and middle positions, or 2 humbuckers

- 2 volume 1 tone ,coil tap on the humbucker or humbuckers

- natural finish

- mahogany body (maybe) with a flamed maple top

- all gold hardware

i am thinking about a floyd but it might end up being a hardtail. the body will be a strat style body, i may slightly change it, maybe a bit more like a jackson soloist, but more towards a strat. i am going to do a all natural finish, just a clear coat no painting or staining. i am thinking about a mahogany body with a flamed maple top. i want a bright sounding guitar, how will this sound?

here are 2 pictures of the sorta colour scheme i am going for:

i am not sure when i am starting it yet, maybe after christmas or later this winter. does anyone have any imput for my project? woods?

later on, matt

If you want it sort of bright, then I recommend Alder over Mahogony any day.

It's cheaper, and you can stain it to look like Mahogony if you want to.

Actually Alder doesn't look bad completely natural either IMO.
