I have a question about how to protect the wood binding on my fretboard while I dye the back of the neck & body. Also what the best method for keeping the edge of my Maple top clean (trying to keep it natural also). Is masking the best method of should I try to seal these parts before I apply stain. If anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

If this helps: I am using MEK dye (applied with spray gun & air brush), neck and back of body are Mahogany, Top & headstock veneer & fretboard binding are flamed Maple.

Thanks Much, Fryguy :D

Yeah, if your dye goes on with a spray method you only need to keep it off the surface. The long-exposure wet dyes need more control but not a spray dye. Alcohol-based? If it is not, what did you use to put the binding on with? Only problem I can think of is aliphatics will take up dyes in the glue joint but doesn't seem to be a problem with spray dyes.
