How Is This Finish Done?

I have had this idea to buy a guitar off ebay take the finish off and...

1. spray mount (spray glue) a stack of pictures.

2. Then spray with a clear varnish.

as you can see a) I am imspired by a steve vai guitar from a few years back although I will be using very different images. and I have little idea what I am at.

Any tips or advice ?

It's called decoupage, and it can be applied to almost anything, so there are various techniques and finishes that are used. This is the first link I found with Google: http://www.decoupage.org/ (They should have a ton of ideas and techniques.)

thanks - when I have the images all fixed in place what is the best clear laquer to use - I am in the uK.

Decoupage doesn't normally use lacquer as their topcoat, I think they use a brush-on varnish or poly finish.
