sepultura999
Well i've been on this forum for a few months learning things here and there and now I've decided to make my own axe. I am thinking of doing a telecaster body with an LP style neck. The only thing is WHAT WOOD?! lol. I have read the tonewood guides a few times but I notice that some don't help, like when they desribe wood as to having a nice pop - that just confuses me haha. Maybe you guys can throw in your advice... The guitar is going to be tunned from C# to C#, and I'm thinking of going with an EMG 60 in the neck. What kind of wood would you suggest would give my guitar a really nice deep sound? I read that cherry is pretty good for that. I don't want to invest into exotic woods. Any wood from North America is what i'm looking for. I am up for putting tops on but not carved ones because I don't want this guitar to take about a year to do since i don't have too much time. Plus it's a telecaster body and i think it would look odd with a carved top lol. The neck is going to be a premade one from Ebay, so it will most likely be maple/rosewood, or mahogony/rosewood since I don't have enough tools to make my own neck, nor time. I may get lucky and find one with ebony. Also, I'm not big on bridge pickups, and I've seen many guitars with just bridge pickups, but never a guitar with just a neck, is there a reason why because I'd prefer to just go with a neck pickup? All help is appreciated! -Jamie
