ARose
I'm doing my first kit, SAGA HT-10. Has anyone put this together? I have a couple of questions about the wiring and pick-ups but would like to discuss outside this forum so I don't waste bandwidth and time. Thanks
AlGeeEater
I did one, what do you need to know?
ARose
I've never done anything like this so bare with me. First, how do you attach the pickups to the body. There are no holes drilled, is this a manufacturing mistake or do I have to drill them or what? The other is I have an unattached blue wire that I don't know what to do with, do you? AlGeeEater
There are no holes drilled for the pickups? There must be 4 holes, drilled outside of the pick-up routes? The blue wire is the ground wire, which you have to solder or wrap around the bridge *before* you tap in the studs. ARose
Nope, no holes. Will that bulletproof vaneer crack when I drill into it? "Tap in the studs"? The "studs" being? Sorry man, can't express how new I am at this.

Sorry man, can't express how new I am at this. Its alright. Let me see if i can explain this without losing you. Your kit came with instructions right? Try following them. Im pretty sure they tell you everything you need to know. I lost mine, but if you still have your's, follow them. There should be 4 small holes around the pickup routes like that picture. ARose
Yep, those holes are not there on mine. That is why the instructions weren't making sense. Thanks dude. By the way, how did you get the top to show through that blue? Looks nice.

I used Dupli-Color Metalcast, its a translucent lacquer. Or tinted, however you want to memorize it by Edited December 28, 2004 by AlGeeEater
ARose
International Luthiers or something, out of Oklahoma? Where do I get that kind of lacquer?
silvertonessuckbutigotone
the studs are the metal things you put into the holes for the bridge, there should be a tunnel drilled from the hole in the back for wiring, and the hole for the "studs" you need to put the blue wire through that tunnel and all the way into the hole for the stud then put the stud in, and connect the other end to whatever needs grounding (should be in instructions). You can get metal cast basically anywhere (walmart, auto zone, napa). Edited December 28, 2004 by silvertonessuckbutigotone

swirlslave
maybe the holes are there but under the veneer....
ARose
I don't think so. From what I have read these Saga kits are hit and miss. Some are missing parts, some are missing holes, some don't line up at all. What do you expect for $150.00? The encouraging thing is that everyone says they sound very good when all is said and done. Thanks for the info!
AlGeeEater
They do sound really good, for a price. I changed the pickups and put new pots in. Seymour duncan distortions and allparts 500k pots make this thing sweet.
