jay5 Posted December 30, 2004 Report Share Posted December 30, 2004 I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice as to weather or not chucking up a threaded shaft into a drill chuck could be a potential problem. I have some sanding drums and I have made some little wheels for the bottom (like a robosander) but the added thickness of the wheel leaves me no thread left on the shaft to attach the nut. I was hoping that I could just go get some bolts the right size and use those instead, as that is essentially what is on there now. I'm a little leary about weather or not the threads of the bolt will chew up the chuck or cause the drum to spin or what not. Any advice? Thanks! Setch Posted December 31, 2004 Report Share Posted December 31, 2004 Generally the threads on sanding drums run backwards, so that using the drum tightens the nut, rather than slackening it so the abrasive will slip.
