eddiefletcher
Hi everyone I was wondering if anybody knew much about this guitar... Notice the variation on the vine inlay which I really like. I'm trying to find out more info on where I could get hold of an original guitar however I believe the J custom series was only avaliable for sale within Japan with very few exported! Does anyone know a good dealer to try to get hold of one or any further info on this type of vine? Is it a one off or did this vine appear anywhere else on another J custom or other model? Cheers! bowser
That vine is the same as the one on the RG8670, and I think there are a few guys on Jemsite who have them. They might be able to take some close up pictures for you if you are looking to make one similar. You can also import an 8670 from http://www.ishibashi.co.jp
Kevan
That's a 3rd Gen. J-Custom. They were not brought to the US, but you can order them from some shops in Japan (or contact Rich). There are a couple of variations of the 'vine' inlay: - Regular Vine Inlay: We've seen this one on the JEMs that Vai plays. - Tree of Life (new): That's the one pictured above. It's a lot like the Vine, but....updated a little. More high-end Ibanez guitars are coming with this inlay. - Tree of Life (old): This one can be seen on some of the old Bob Weir models from Ibanez. If you guys have questions about J-Customs, let me know. I have the largest collection of 1st. Gen. J-Customs on Earth (unless there's a new guy I haven't heard about. LOL). Be careful about posting J-Custom stuff on Jemsite; that got me suspended a couple of times.

Thanks Kev, do you by chance know some other models we may be getting coming through in the future with this vine? I've emailed Rich who will keep an eye out for me but basically i've been told by most people dont hold your breath! I know a guy called Cameron who works for Ibanez Australia ( Australis ) as they are called here and he has basically told me I have no hope! Kevan
Nah...don't listen to them. :-) There are several models out this year with the Tree Of Life design. My buddy Pete just picked one up from Japan (the pink flame-top RG one; I forgot the model number). I'm pretty sure that Ibanez will continue to offer the Vine and Tree of Life inlays on their higher-end models. Keep looking...they'll be there. :-)

gypsydjango
Hi, i have a beautiful Ibanez Prestige 2820 ctvv. These guitars were made as a limited edition and are rarely available. Only 500 were made and they are no longer in production. It is a very highly spec'd guitar with a bound mahogany body and quilted maple top. The neck is 5-piece maple Ultra profile with a satin finish. The rosewood fingerboard has a ll-length abalone and pearl Tree of Life vine inlay and is stunning to look at and play. There is no fret-wear. Fitted with an Ibanez Edge Pro trem and Dimarzio/Ibanez pick-ups which are both powerful and articulate. It has a few chips on it, 1 on the headstock, 3 on the back edge, not really obvious unless you look for them. This guitar is a delight to own and play which would have cost in excess of £1200 when it was new. It also comes with an original fitted ibanez hard case. I'm looking to get about £800 for it. E-mail gypsydjango@hotmail.com There's a good pic here http://www.musik-service.de/ProduX/Gitarre...RG2820_CTVV.htm
