Moreau Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Ive tried to find out how to take the cup out of a 1/4" maple board. I cant find anything that tells me how to step by step. Could anyone steer me in a good direction? thanks Quote
bassman Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 if you dont want to joint the cup out of it,making it even thinner, then you can get both surfaces saturated with water then clamp it between some thicker flat material. Quote
Drak Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Make sure both sides of the wood have the same surface on them. If one side is smooth, the other needs to be equally smooth, if the surfaces are dissimilar, it will warp again due to different moisture absorbtion levels. Otherwise, what Bassman said. Quote
Dugz Ink Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Keep it clamped between bigger (straight) wood until you're ready to use it. If you can't do that, lay it on something flat with a fair amount of weight on top of it. This might not take out all of the cupping, but it should help. If you're gluing this to a back that is 1" thick, you'll be able to flatten it when you glue and clamp it to the back... provided it isn't too bad. Storing it like I mentioned should help to keep it from getting too bad. Isn't wood amazing? We kill it and cut it, but it still does its own thing. D~s Quote
