Floyd Rose Routing?

Installing OFR 7 string trem. Found all these nice routing templates, on www.floydrose.com and this site......but non seem to mention the actual intonation position line.

So looking for the distance between the mounting post line and the centre of the intonation adjustment line?

Anyone?

I find it strange the "official" FLoyd Rose web templates don't mention it. Also strange that routing guides were not included in package.

Dan erlewine in his book *Guitar player repair guide* has these measure =

Quote * Here are the mounting distance for five popular tremolo, measured from the nuts front edge to the center of the pivot stud line. A common installation error is too install the tremolo too far from the nut, causing the guitar to play flat or the bridge saddles to hang over the units fronts edge. youll be safe with these figures :

Scale length 25.50

floyd rose = 25 ''

Schaller floyd rose liscensed = 24 15/16 ''

Ibanez edge = 25 1/16 ''

Kahler spyder = 25''

gotoh floyd rose liscensed = 25 ''

hope that helps.... :D

Thanks.....I did search on "intonation" and found these threads with some good advice:

I do understand the process and everything involved......

What confuses me is where exactly on the bridge saddle the string would leave the saddle.......cause this is the point that determines the eventual length of the string.

Looking at the pic, that 25" from topnut to center of bridge stud (for 25.5" scale length, with OFR) would indicate that I have to set up the guitar on high E on reference line "a".....where as my feeling says line "b" would be closer to the truth.

I posted same question with FLoyd Rose company,....but they haven't returned my email yet. (if they ever will, I guess??) Also don't get it that this isn't mentioned on routing template FR provides. Isn't this just the most important measure of the whole trem route????

The following thread did anser some one my questions. I guess this is also the thread Marcel was referring to.

http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...wtopic=6027&hl=

Calculating it for my own measurements......it all comes close to 25" mentioned earlier. This link to Stewmac site also gives the 25" +/- 1/16" as reference for OFR.

http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?a...reeinfo/fi.html

On my OFR 7 string tremolo it would all come down to:

Scale length: 25.5" (647.7mm)

String brake point to trem posts: 12 mm from centre stud to line "a". (Or 14 mm for line "b").

Resulting in 647.7 - 12 - 2 = 633.7 mm from nut to center o tremposts. (Or 631.7 mm if taken option "b".)

Now I'm still in a bit of limbo about whether to use this 12 or 14 mm distance.

Refering to 25" of previous post.....that would come down to 635mm.... figuring they haven't used a 1-2mm safety margin.......this comes pretty close to the 663.7 mm earlier.

Where oh! where to put the trem posts on 7 string OFR??

647.7 (25.5") - 14 mm - 2 mm = 631.7 mm

25" - 1/16" = 633.4 mm

647.7 - 12mm - 2mm = 663.7 mm

25" = 635 mm

25" + 1/16" = 636.6 mm

Hmmmmm!!???

I see.... Jeremy installs 7 string OFR on his Leviathans....wonder what he is using as measurement.
