Maris Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Hi Guys, Ive recieved my neck from Warmoth and doing a test fit on the body noticed a gap between the finger board and the body. Is this O.K? or should i take down the heel so it fits lower. I dont like the look at the moment. Thanks guys, Mark Quote
thedoctor Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 I'd be tempted to leave it for now. A lot of guitars have space between the fretboard and the body. Maybe one of the other forumers have a reason to lower it. Quote
erikbojerik Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Its normal for a fretboard overhand to have this gap. It's your choice whether or not to drop it flush with the top, but if you do, make sure you can adjust your bridge & pickup height accordingly. Quote
Marzocchi705 Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Its normal. dont worry. Like eric said, its so you can adjust your brige properly. Quote
Maris Posted January 29, 2005 Author Report Posted January 29, 2005 I'm using a Gotoh 510 bridge, which has quite a bit of adjustment, but i'd rather have the bridge lower than adjusted right out, so maybe ill leave the neck as is. Mark Quote
javacody Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 (edited) The overhang on a Fender type neck is supposed to be on top of a pickguard, so that gap on a Fender type guitar would normally be minimal. If you want it even, you could go ahead and lower the neck in the pocket, but make sure your bridge can be lowered far enough to give you the action you want. You could also recess your bridge if needed. Personally, I prefer fairly high action (better tone) and always have my saddle height maxxed out. Edited January 29, 2005 by javacody Quote
