DracWell
Does anyone know the dimensions for the AANJ on 7-strings? I've only got the regular AANJ.
RGGR
I guess we are talking RG here.........and what dimensions are you referring to? The AANJ body shape of RG/JEM/UV 6/7 are all the same. Angular????
DracWell
No, I thought they made the aanj bit wider for the 7 strings. But you're saying that they only route it wider for the neck, the shape it self isn't altered?
Maiden69
Are you making a copy of an Ibanez, or just making an AANJ for your guitar? I always shape the neck joint like this, and I just go by feel, as long as I have atleast a 3" long neck pocket like fenders.
DracWell
No copy One thing that came into my thoughts regaring neck-joints. How the hell can conklins neck-joints hold? So thin: http://www.conklinguitars.com/bizarregalle...3pikcupback.jpg
GuitarMaestro
If you don't want to build an exact copy then go by feel and these pictures. That is what I did and it worked out great.
jer7440
This may be a stupid question , but, Does aanj actually stand for something? Something something neck joint maybe?
RGGR
All Access Neck Joint = AANJ
jer7440
Thank you very much! Been wondering about that for a while
Maiden69
Maestro, that was exactly my point, I always go by feel. And on the conklins neck-joint holding, don't be fooled by that picture, that is an 8 str and the joint looks slimmer than it is, and on the bass side is much thicker. As long as your body is of a strong wood, no softies here, it should hold fine.
DracWell
Maiden69, yes, but it still looks damn thin And long, it ends around the 13th fret. I'm wondering if I should go with an AANJ or the Conklin way.
Maiden69
That my friend is your choice! What ever makes you happy! I think the AANJ will be much easier to make than the tapper in the Conklin.
DracWell
hehe yes, but the conklin way looks nicer. oh well, we'll see how I do it. still (after like a year) in the planing stage.
