Does Size & Shape Matter?

Recommended Posts

size- scale length is the most obvious one, if the scale length is too long, then either 1. you get bigger gauge strings 2. your guitar wont have any sustain

on the other hand if its too short, 1. get lighter bauge strings, 2. your notes will go really high and then slowly return to where they are supposed to be because of the fluctuation

shape- i dunno

Too many variables to determine any differences. And even if you could discern the differences they would be so subtle as to be almost unnoticeable. As mentioned its the nature of the materials used, ie. density, and homogeneity (sorry, can't seem to think of a more appropriate word) of the wood. When I'm asked if size matters I usually just say..."Well, I may not touch bottom but I'll sure bang the hell outa the sides!" :D
