Tube Amp As Pre-amp

i just finished refurbishing an old class a amp for my partner here at the store. it's truly a great sounding amp...fairly good volume and overdrives at about 6 or 7. you could gig with it in a smaller venue but i got to wondering how you could modify it to be used as a pre-amp.

i'm assuming that you couldn't just run a jack off of the speaker cables because it would change the whole impedence thing. so can it be done and how would you go about it if you could. there's three inputs so one of them could be converted to an output but where would you get your signal from?

I'm thinking just before the power amp section would be a good place. In essence, that would give you a preamp out. A voltage divider might be required to bring the signal down to line level if it's a pretty hot signal.

thanks lk...that's exactly what i needed. the 10 ohm resistor was the answer to the question i had about the lack of impedence. maybe someday i'll grow up and know where to find all these things :D

thanks paul..i was looking to use the amp as a preamp as opposed to boosting the signal out..

later
