ALCOHOL did not make Al Capone. PROHIBITION made Al Capone.

Nicely put.

I could care less either way if pot were legalized or not. It wouldn't affect my life and likely wouldn't affect a lot of other people.

OMG, I beg to differ from you here!!! You are taking a very wrong stand with this statement! Just think about it... How many people are killed by drunk drivers every year! Now think about the bunch of AHles that don't get out and drive because they are too stoned and "might" get a DUI. Now let say pot is legal and this Joe Dumb, how is your neigbohr is stoned to the max, and decide to go to the store a few blocks down to get something for the munchies, gets on the car and drives down the street.

A few kids are playing on the sidewalk, the ball comes flying thru the street, Joe is too stone, and sees it but can't make out a ball, just a flash, he smiles "damn man, this trip is coool!!!!" then there goes the kid to get the ball, and... well you imagine!

Now this is but one situation that could be avoided or deterred because pot is illegal. I'm not saying that it will be like this for every pot user, but I'm saying is that the statistics and the accidents WILL increase if it is legalized.

I think the point he's (correctly) trying to make is that just because it's natural don't mean it's safe, or healthy, or good for you.

Sorry, I typed that out in 10 seconds because I was late heading off for work. Yes, that is what I meant. I honestly don't care what people do so long as it doesnt interfere with me. If I get hit by a drunk/stoned/psycho mf'er and they are all "Derr....." I am curb stomping them. Perhaps they should legalize all drugs. The potential for the users to end up sterile, dying from OD, and/or not coming to work would lead to a drastic population reduction of ***holes. I've dealt with drunks, druggies, and morons thoughout my life and watched them self destruct. I also work out at a casino where gambling addicts run in everyday and complain about the machines. When they complain, I just tell them to stop and go home...Never works, but its the truth. "Man, this stuff isn't going to hurt you, but man, I gotta cut back." Then stop.

Yes, hundreds of elements and vegatables found/grown/cultured naturally are lethal. Think Poison Oak: all natural, non addicting, tasty, good for you.

Sorry for the tangent, but the gambling thing just reminded me of this: http://www.illwillpress.com/smok.html

Enjoy, and carry on! :D

HAHAHA! Thats great! Thanks!

Ban the car then, that would save a lot of problems :D

"this trip is cool?"

dude..i think theze guys are talking about pot,and pot is no hallucinogen.

problem with the legalization of pot is that the ones making the laws are out of touch.smoking pot is absolutely less dangerous to surrounding people than being drunk, and your kids are in more danger from a redneck in his truck haulin ass down the road tweaking on a mouth full of copenhagen.

unfortunately,a stoned guy drives no worse than an illegal immigrant...and is much less dangerous than a bicycle on the road, which i see all too much of(both)driving around austin every day...

but that is not to say it's okay...illegal immigrabts are not supposed to be on the road, but the police are forced to look the other way...old people drive horribly, but they are allowed to keep on,bicycles are horribly dangerous on the road, yet they have a "right" to be there, but you somehow think a stoned guy is worse off?

ban em all i say...no cellphones, bicycles, hamburgers, immigrants, old people, drunks,or stoned people at all on the roads...but in your own house you can have 10 beers, smoke 10 joints,be with 10 prostitutes, and talk on the phone all you want and all at the same time...it hurts NO-BOD-Y...

...how are bicycles horribly dangerous on a road? Some cyclists are, yes, but if you can drive, especially with absurdly oversized American roads, really, what's the big deal? Of course, any civilized country should have proper cycle paths :D

I might add that 'stoned driving' isn't a blip on the radar here. Alcohol's way, way more dangerous, and most stoned people don't tend to feel like going for a drive. There's also the interesting factoid that fewer people in NL smoke pot (per capita) than in the countries surrounding it.

...how are bicycles horribly dangerous on a road?

in austin,we have many very narrow roads with alot of turns and hills and alot of traffic....it creates a cluster behind a cyclist and most times you never see them until you are right on top of them.

cyclists are involved in many wrecks around here...and the cyclist usually loses.

they just had a big discussion about this on a talk show on local am radio the other day...they asked callers to call in and report their experiences as cyclists on the road...every one of them said that if you were to travel on the roads around here on a bycicle on a daily basis, you would not live long...the roads are just not capable of supporting bike traffic and cars at the same time safely, yet the mayor of austin is trying to encourage people to ride bicycles to work

what you may not understand over in the netherlands is that here in texas,it is not unusual in the least to have a work commute of 20 miles or more...in fact i would venture to say 80% at least are commuting that far here in austin every day...those people cannot ride a bike to work...thety must drive a car,and traffic is much more infuriating than you may think it is here...so even if YOU are able to ride a bike to work, all of the people around you are not,and they are all in a hurry...it just does not work...and to top it off cyclists around here do not stop at the red lights...so you don't just have to get around them once, you have to do it several times, because as soon as you stop at a light they blow right through it,even though it's illegal...

bike trails would be nice...we do have them, but they are recreational, they don't go everywhere.and recreational cyclists are not the problem, because they drive to 360 or some other nice wide road with wide shoulders, and everyone knows they are going to be there.the problem is when they commute on a bike, they get on the inner city roads and create a horrible hazard.

that explain it well enough?

Are you just speculating here, or what? I think you said you've never smoked weed, so what gives? :D The outcome of that situation is inconsistent with the effects of smoking weed. Maybe it would be more believable if the driver had just smoked salvia, or eaten shrooms. But seeing a flash instead of a ball because he smoked some weed? Give me a break. :D

Anyways, i've never hitten a little kid, got into an accident or have had any really 'close calls' when I had to drive high. I used to do it a lot too, me and some friends would hotbox each others cars afterschool and drive home. Not exactly fun, but I don't drive high anymore because it's very irresponsible. The noticeable affects of smoking some herb don't last that long anyways. I can always function normally when i'm high.

Btw what do y'all make of this;

Theyre ranked based on a few factors like damage to society per user, as well as danger to the individual btw. I guess thats why alcohol ranks so high.

also the classifications are the uk ones.

The ranking of ecstasy seems most surprising to me.

You know what, I won't post in this topic again, it is useless and futile!

Any drug that slows you down will make you trip. I'm not saying that it will make you halucinate! All I'm saying is that by the time that he realize what it was, if he ever does he will be on top of the kid.

Algee, you don't have to use a drug to know what it does! I know how people react on it, because I had a lot of friends that did it! And on the Police Academy there is a trimester class dedicated to drugs...

If you are going to use it, well it is entirely up to you! I still find it stupid to use a drug that will not make you better, help you achieve a goal or cure a desease (sp). This is why I don't smoke or drink! (and I can use the money I save to pay for my bike! gives me all the high I want anytime)

Ben, they use that chart (at least close to that one in the Academy) and the question why cannabis is lower than tobacco always comes up, since both are smoked, and the response is because tobacco is a bit more toxic than cannabis. But they always tell us that if cannabis were to be legal it would change within a year.

YEAPH, same response given on control studies done on the effects of alcohol and driving! "I drive better when I have a few drinks because I'm more relaxed and pay more attention to the road" You don't see any difference in your abilities, but everyone around you (except your friends that are high too :D ) notice it...

Well all I was saying is that if you've never tried it, then you're pretty biased aren't you? Learning what a drug does to you in a Police Academy is totally different than experiencing it yourself. I'm sure you'd be very suprised at the effects of smoking weed compared to what they tell you in the Academy. There's some really biased info out there really, and you have to take ANYTHING that's taught with a grain of salt. The first time I smoked was totally different than what I had been taught at school and what I had been told.

Indeed, everyone has different reasons for doing different things. I don't drink, I don't smoke cigarettes, but I do find kicking back and smoking some weed very enjoyable & relaxing. Way more enjoyable than drinking, and getting pissed and going to sleep. :D Everyone has a different 'high', and it does not need to be reached or activated by the use of drugs. Driving your bike is a perfect example of this (as long as you don't speed B) ).

Check it out, man. :D

They're just plants, but the real potent, trip stuff, is the salvia extract. If you go onto YouTube, there's a few videos where a couple of guys document there friends ingesting salvia.

the problem is,that is just a basic reply to a much deeper issue...EVERYBODY takes some drug to make them feel better.the question is,do you need uppers or downers to make your life easier to tolerate?

i drink buttloads of coffee personally.and don't tell me caffiene is not just as unhealthy as pot in large doses...it's just accepted, that's all

some guys smpkeciggarettes...nicotine is also an upper...like caffiene.

i remember that you are a physical fitness consultant of some type for the military...big supporter of atkins...long term atkins has severe health consequences...look it up.do you ever reccomend hydroxycut or ripped fuel?both are drugs...both are uppers.they do nothing good for you except pick you up,and as soon as you stop taking them you crash, and crash hard.i know because i take them time to time myself.going on hydroxycut for more than a week and then going off of it throws me into weeks of depression...

i do not partake of the herb...but ALOT of my friends do...and guess what?they are all happier than me...

why?i think because they found a simple little way to make the weight of the world just a little less.and what is wrong with that.

i don't buiy the long term health problems supposedly associated with pot.i know too many old bikers and hippies that are suffering no health problems from pot...the amount of smoke inhaled by a pot smoker is a hell of a lot less than the amount inhaled by the typical cigarrette smokerbut it aint my thing.

i kind of wish it was my thing.i could use a little less stress in my life.and no civil discussion is really futile...discusasing differences bring people closer to undestanding each other

Salvia is legal isnt it?

For the most part, I can't see it becoming illegal anytime soon though. You can't even function normally when you're 'tripping' on it. :D

Theres actually a group of people trying to get savlia listed as a scheduled drug due to the fact that it is in fact the world's most powerful hallucinogen. Ive heard of people smoking salvia and comparing it to a trip harder than mushrooms or even acid. The only difference is it only lasts around 10 minutes. Some people try it and feel nothing however. But the government is definately getting close to scheduling it, and due to the potency of it, it might possibly be schedule I (which means it would be illegal to sell, or posses it). I'll try to find the article I was reading that had this information in it, i googled it somewhere, maybe I can find it again and post the link.

people should have the right to do what they want to their own body, however it shouldnt be up to others to pay for their healthcare. if they get a desease as a result of drugs then they pay for treatment.

they should hand out joints at overseas england football matches and peace confrences (sp)
