Daniel Sorbera Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 like to make the bass magnet underneath the treble string and make the treble magnet under the bass string? Would this have any bad effects on the sound? O and i'm talking about a single coil. Quote
unclej Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 i think there was a discussion about this just a couple of days ago so you might do a quick search but if it's a single coil and the pole pieces are fixed and the same height it shouldn't make any difference which way you put it in... Daniel Sorbera Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 ok just incase anyone else wants to know I found this No, it doesn't matter how they are situated. I presume that each single coil has an ear where the wires come out. You can just smack the two pickups together with ears on the outside and it'll work just fine. Quote
Saber Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Unless the pickup's poles have a strange uneven stagger, the sound of the pickup by itself shouldn't change. If it's on at the same time as another pickup, though, the phase relationship between the 2 pickups will be reversed. Quote
rockthe40 Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 you mentioned magnets in your first post, i THINK only a few high dollar PUPs use different magnets on the bass and treble side. you probably know more about this than i do, but just in case Quote
thedoctor Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Swap ends. The booger will never know what hit it! If anything, it'll sound great! Always plan for success! Quote
frank falbo Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Rotating the pickup will not change it's phase relationship with other pickups. The north/south orientation of the magnets is still the same, as is the winding direction. Quote
