kac Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum. I post regularly on the seymour duncan forum and happened onto this forum by searching on yahoo. I have a Fender Strat with a Rails humbucker and a stackked Rails Single coil. I am looking to put Rails Humbuckers in my 7-string Ibanez RG. Has anyone ever heard of 7 string rails Humbuckers? I havn't and havn't had any luck finding any, but I thought I would try and tap into the resources of this site. Thanks, -Kac Rock On Quote
thedoctor Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Unless I am mistaken, and many people say I am, rail pickups don't care how many strings you have as long as the string width is covered plus about 1/8". I love rail pickups for their output and complete coverage. I use them exclusively on 12-strings and Tele bridge position for that very reason. Quote

Thanks, -Kac Rock On ← Hi Kac, Once again, I find myself referring a builder to Vintage Vibe Guitars. Pete Biltoft there will custom make anything you need. His pickups have wonderful sound and are very affordable. Geez, you'd think I work for the guy, but I don't. I pay the same as the rest of you. E-mail at cynpete1@earthlink.net, tell him what you need, and you're there. He's fast, too. Quote
thomasteven Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Would a tele picku work? They are angled toward the neck of the guitar so they must be longer. Not sure about this. Quote
Maiden69 Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 I haven't seen any rails but Carvin humbuckers are pretty close to the output of the rails since they don't have space between the poles, Carvin 727 and they have it on single coil too. Quote
Andy Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The problem with Carvin 7 String pickups is I'm not sure if you can buy them seperately... Theya ren't lsited on their site (though many options for the guitars aren't listed either so thats not a sure plan) And carvin pickups use different sized routs than normal (A bit smaller IIRC) Quote
Maiden69 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The rout is smaller on thier guitars because they don't use rings with the pups. If you want to use rings you can use the regular rout, I'm sure that if you call them they could sell a pair, that's their business, and I haven't heard of anybody complaining about bad service from them.
