Just a thought... Quote
JPL Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I'm kind of lazy and dont want to search thru the pages.. ha Thank you ahead of time! ← Please, no offence but lazy and finishing just don't go together. If you are too lazy to read up on the subject you are not going to have the ambition to do even a passable job on your guitar. In my book finishing is the hardest and most painstaking part of building a guitar. Quote
bigdguitars Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 yes finishing is the hardest part of the guitar specially if you don't know what you are doing. Quote
Maiden69 Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I'm sure this has been asked, but I'm kind of lazy and dont want to search thru the pages.. ha Thank you ahead of time! ← 1st, you are a member sice nov last year and you still don't know the answer to this question???? And 2nd, I'm too lazy to look it up for you too! Quote

ibanezrocker61 Posted March 8, 2005 Author Report Posted March 8, 2005 Wow nice attitudes for christ sake... let me explain something, being a member since last nov. has nothing to do with knowing the answer to my question and/or knowing how to finish a guitar. Another thing, so what if i dont know how YET, thats why i posted this question and thats what this "project guitar" forum IS FOR! and i have to learn to do this sometime, theres a first time for everything, apparently you dont know that otherwise your negative comments wouldnt of been said. i did a search now, but not finding those exact answers i asked for. AND, im sorry for posting in the wrong forum, i guess i didnt realize, so ill go post in the other. Have a good one, peace. Quote
Maiden69 Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 No, this forum is not for us to write back and answer every question you might feeling like asking, when the only thing you need to do is click that handy dandy button at the top right hand corner of the screen that says "SEARCH" and find it by your self... this way you don't have to deal with grumpy old man like myself... If on the other hand you ask something that don't give you any hits with the search, and you are "honest" (since you already seem honest enough to admit that you are LAZY) and tell us that you have looked it and can't find the right answer, you bet I will sit here and give you n honest answer, and even post links to were you can go to get the facts... But don't come here saying that you want an answer on a solver platter, because you are to darn lazy to look it up yourself! It's all in how you ask the question, not the question you ask! hits for guitar painting hits for painting (holly crap 25 pages) finishing tutorials LGM's painting questions answered here he explain every type of paint you can use, pros and cons Seriously, I started a few months ago, and I read every tutorial there was, and even dare asked the stupidiest of questions, but I never came across saying that the reason I asked the question was because I was too lazy to look it up myself. fryovanni Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Most members here will be happy to help you out, if you are honestly trying to do your best to learn what you need to know. Asking an open ended question like that and saying your not willing to put forth any effort, well thats gonna annoy people that have put forth the effort to learn. It will really annoy the people that invested there time creating those tutorials and such. Spend a bit of time reading up and then ask about the things that still are not clear about. Peace, Rich Quote
sam Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 hello from the USA.Hopefully, I' not as lazy as the last finisher, however, i made a big mistake when finishing a "strat" style body with a quilt veneer, i had not found the "Project Guitar" site yet. The finish is serviceable, but not very showy. Oh well, doo doo happens. after finding the site. i read about finishing veneer. i also made a very( I hope) economical discovery,....while most color stains and dyes are relatively inexpensive $10.00 -$15.00 U.S, I hesitated to spend that much for a single color. Ev en though, i could come up with thousands of shades of whatever color i chose. Two colors would expand the shade range and intensity exponentially. 20 - 30 $ US. Big deal, huh? I was walking around in a grocery store one day after reading the article, and spooted a pakage of food coloring. four colors an ounce or less of red, blue, green, yellow. $1.98 US. I wil, soon, send some pics of samples and an almost matched set of beautiful blue flamed (curly)maple tops for a neck-thru design i'm working on. Thanks for putting up with my bad spelling and grammer, Sam P.S. FOOD COLORING! Quote
Maiden69 Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Please, don't bring the food coloring stuff here! You are going to get flamed beyond believe!!! It is extremely bad advise, keep that stuff on the kitchen were your mom (or wife) can make colorful cakes and buy stains, start here and read the pros and cons, this have been mostly over disscussed here. sam Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 thank you, maiden69. I am new at this. I thought I was on to something. I'm gonna keep on trying though. Quote
CudBucket Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I'm sure this has been asked, but I'm kind of lazy and dont want to search thru the pages.. ha Could there be a worse start for a thread? Seriously, the info you seek is on this board in spades. When you're not feeling lazy, go do a search. People will help you to no end on this board. We're just not going to do the work for you. Here's a pointer for knowing if you're asking a lazy question. If the question is a "How Do I Do This" kind of question. It's probably a lazy question. If the question is a "I'm In the process of and am stuck with" kind of question, that's better. But in either case, do a search first. Lastly, don't just say you did a search when you really didn't, because the guys with the answers on the board, know what's been discussed and whether or not the info is there. Good luck. PS Don't be lazy. It makes for bad guitars. Sorry in advance. I'm a little cranky. But the point remains the same. Quote
