unclej
i know the effects that different pots have on tone in a guitar but i've noticed that most tube amps use one meg pots for volume and i'm sure there's a good reason. what would the audio differences be on a volume circuit with different sized pots..250k, 500k, 2 meg, etc.
VanKirk
Here's a thread that may help. I typed potentiometer in the search engine and that topic looked most relevant but there were many more topics with good info.
JohnnyG
i think its to do with tube triode gain circuits having a higher output impedance (about 100k to 300k) and so a 1 Meg pot would be used so that it doesnt load the gain stage down.
