JimRayden
Any special paint or treatment needed if I want to refinish a pickguard and hardware? I've got an old rusted bridge to refinish. And I did a new pickguard to it. I need to paint them both black. TYIA, Jimbo

Southpa
Disassemble and strip with wire brush and sandpaper. If rust persists ie. deep pits etc. use a rust converter (from autobody store) then cover with metal primer and then top coat. If the screws are rusty its easier to replace them. JimRayden
Thanks. Oh by the way, plastic needs primer too? ------------- Jimbo
Southpa
I don't know about being able to coat plastic with anything and making it stick. If you are thinking about a pickguard then you are going to have a hard time keeping it from getting scratched. Either pick your color beforehand or use clear plastic and coat the backside. marksound
This stuff sticks to plastic furniture, old milk crates, toys, etc. Maybe it would work on a pickguard. I'd try it on a throwaway first, though.
JimRayden
The paint I currently have is suitable for metal, plastic, wood, etc... But I always need a primer and a clear, right? ----------- Jimbo
