coolcat
I was cleaning the fingerboard on my rosewood neck with a sponge and I was overzealous. I took some of the finish off! Does anyone know what to use to restore a dark color to the rosewood? Shoe polish? Furniture stain? Nestles chocolate? [g]
bigdguitars
that sounds odd what type of guitar was this on? was the board sealed or something? was it maybe that it was really dirty? I have not heard that some companies stain rosewood boards, ebonhy but not rosewood. -derek
skibum5545
I second what he said. Was the board ebony-ified or something? If not, the board was probably just really dirty; some lemon oil will fix that right up; you should probably give it a quick wipe down with naptha first, though. On a side note, does anyone know if mineral oil is suitable for oiling fretboards?
Daniel Sorbera
read this before putting anything on your fingerboard... basicly wipe it down with napatha until clean than buff like crazy than do NOTHING. Ya I know it's hard but putting on a gallon of lemen oil wont make your board look better. It will make it look worse. Devon Headen
It could have some kind of stain on it. I used to have an Orville LP Custom (imported), and it was a rosewood fretboard with some kind of darkening agent on it. Pictures would help a lot.
