Ok well after spending time since last may trying to fix broken old crappy guitars I have decided to make one using new parts. I have been looking on ebay and decided I'm gonna go for a nice jazzy/ blues guitar. This is going to be my first project that I plan to actually complete.

For the body I am going to buya LPS style body template and have Bigd make me a Quilted maple (hopefully carved top) Stain it a aqua, and clear coat it.

I have changed my mind about pickups and decided to get a Pearly gates at the bridge and a SH-6 Distortion at the neck

For the tail peice im going to buy a Bigsby B7 Short Tail then some type of Bigsby bridge.

For the fretboard I'm planning to buy one of the custom inlay rosewood necks similar to these ones you see on ebay neck

And of course I'll add all of the other odds and ends, I'm thinking of selling my kahler seeing as its to confusing for me and I don't really like it. :D. If you have any suggestions on parts for me I would greatly appreciate it. :D .

But anyways If you would like to make a donation to me you can B).

just tallied it up if all goes well it well be about 574.9 to make it

My first concern is that you are saving money on pickups when you are thinking about spending a couple hundred on a bridge. Bigsby's aint cheap. Since you have a Kahler already, even though you don't like it, I'd consider using that. It's a bird in the hand, so to speak. It's free.

I'd also be cautious about those "gorgeous" inlay fingerboards on eBay. They ship from Indonesia and the shipping is around $14 minimum. Even if you win one for 1 cent, which you can, you still have that huge shipping cost. I really don't like the inlay either. I'd rather try to do my own actually.

I suppose my point is that if you want to build a guitar cheaply, avoid putting something really fancy on there like that $200 bridge. That's just dressing up a pig. If you are going through the trouble to build your own guitar, plan it down to the details first and get the right part for the job.

On the other hand, to contradict what I just said, my current project is to build the cheapest guitar I can. Every bit for it comes from $1 ebay auctions (see my post in the auction supplies section on fishing for cheap parts). The parts I get actually drive the design. It can be done that way, but it's more of a challenge.

Yeah, I got the bridge for my Tele project for $1.04 (+$6.19 shipping). Looks to be the same one sold elsewhere for up to $39.99.

Thanks for the tip. :D
