ElGringo Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 (edited) I am curious about the bolt-on neck pocket masking when you finish the guitar. I understand the need to mask it so that the thickness of the finish coats do not intefere with the fit of the neck to the body. My question is, is it necessary to seal the wood of the pocket? Do I put the pocket masking on first thing after it is prepared for finish? Meaning mask pocket, sanding selaer, primer, paint coat, and clear finish. Or do I put on the sanding sealer and them mask the pocket. Seems like you wouldn't want any unsealed wood even if it is covered with the neck. I should be starting the process of finishing my latest guitar once I get the body and neck from Warmoth in 2-3 weeks. Edited May 26, 2005 by ElGringo Quote
