kfran1234
I'm considering applying a figured veneer to a strat type body I have. What is the best way to deal withe the edges of the veneer? I guess the obvious answer would be to use a binding, but I have seen pics of guitar with veneers and no binding. Is it possible to blend the edge where the veneer and body meet or would it be best to spray a solid color to cover that area and just stain the top? Thanks. Myka Guitars
You don't need to use binding if you don't want to. Here is a pic of the last ugitar I did: That's camphor burl over 1/4" carved spruce. Here is the rest of the gallery. I think it looks good as long as you can keep the edge consistent and clean. ~David
Drak
Cool David! I have been looking at Camphor Burl for some time, waiting for the right piece to pass by. Your's is looking great! And no, you don't have to use binding with veneer, it can be made to blend in.
