unclej
http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/suppo...il_one_vol.html click on this link and then just do what it shows twice..one wire from each volume pot to the output jack and both pots grounded. good luck
lovekraft
Actually, you're gonna want to swap the pickup and jack wires on the volume pots (in that SD diagram linked above, the right and center lugs - right to jack, center to pickup) if you're gonna use two and you want them to work independently. unclej
sorry..i thought i was giving good advice. lk, can you explain why they wouldn't function independently if wired like the diagram? inquiring minds want to know.
Gemleggat
it so they dont do what a Les Paul does, when you turn down one volume the whole guitar turns down. This is because the volumes are in paralel, Basically u need to wire it like a Jazz Bass.
lovekraft
unclej, your advice wasn't bad, it just wasn't complete (no crime in that) - that mod was probably the first thing I learned to do with a stock LP or SG, so Gibson doesn't know about it either, evidently! However, without a selector switch, you won't be able to use a single pickup by itself, since turning either volume to zero (with the traditional setup) will kill both pickups, and the alternate wiring becomes a necessity. Don't ask me how I know - let's just say that silence can be deafening.
unclej
i know that silence lk. and it never happens at the beginning of a project..always after you've done all the work and crank it up for the first time. i swear that my forehead is a lot flatter after starting to work on guitars and amps..from the slapping don't cha know? thanks, as always, for the info. Kyle Cavanaugh
switch where the inputs and outputs go on the pots to decouple them. Otherwise, it'll do wierd stuff like a Les Paul does, like it'd kill the whole signal if one volume is at 0, and having the pickups reduce the overall inductance giving you a wierd sound.
