Bluetic
A friend of mine is wanting to build a Bass body from Cherry? Any comments/input on tone or stability? I am not familliar enough with Cherry or its properties to give him any advice. Thanks, Bluetic My prayers are with the friends and loved ones of the victims of terrorism in the UK. God bless you. Drak
It might be a tad heavy, but I think it would make a great bass body. Cherry is very structurally sound, tight, closed-pore grain, easy to finish, solid, tight, clear tone. Cherry is never cheap, it is a premium wood. orgmorg
Yes, it is very stable as well. I like it for making jigs and such with for that reason. And it's around the same weight as mahogany or soft maple. Not exactly basswood, but not unbearable, either. And yeah, it's spendy, at least for a domestic ( north america ) wood. Even in the log, it's around a buck a board foot for anything decent.
