ibanezrocker61 Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 (edited) First of all, how do you ground a guitar with a tune-a-matic/string-thru bridge? I know on tremolo guitars, you ground the guitar with the claw. How does it work with a tune-a-matic? And second question, looking at all my guitars in the control cavities, theres a black kind of finish inside, what is it and can I get it at home depot or such? EDIT: I did some searches, I did before I originally posted and got nothing but somehow I got results after trying again. I saw that you do not need to ground a tune-a-matic if you have an active EMG, which is the case for me, its a 7-string I've built, single EMG 81-7 and a t-o-m/string-thru and just a single volume control. And for the second part, I was kind of confused on shielding... what exactly do I need to do for sheilding the pickup cavity and control cavity? I am wanting to use shielding paint that I read about, so if I do, do I just paint the entire cavities and after so.. thats it? No other soldering or anything needed? I'm asking all these questions bcuz I'd rather be safe than sorry ya know what I mean? heh. I plan on doing this within the next 24 hours bcuz I'm pretty much done with the guitar except for that part, so let me know ASAP!! Thanks Edited July 29, 2005 by ibanezrocker61 Quote
Deja Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 yep just paint the whole cavity with conductive paint, its got nothing to do with the inside parts, its just to stop the signls from outside getting in. Quote
