kh15 Posted July 29, 2005 Author Report Posted July 29, 2005 cool thanks, whats a good company that makes them? Quote
Reaper Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 They're a pretty universal item, but you can't go wrong with Carvin: http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?...ber=AB1&CID=ACS Quote
crafty Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 Morley, SignalFlex...I'm sure Carvin sources a pretty good one too. They're pretty simple so I think you'd be hard pressed to find a bad one. It helps if it has a battery-check light too. I use one to switch between guitars and occassionaly to switch between effect chains. Quote
GodBlessTexas Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 Better suggestion: Get an A/B/Y pedal so you can switch between both and then blend amps together for a wider variety of tones. Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... Quote
Paul Marossy Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 One thing you want to make sure of is that the A & B are isolated from eachother so you don't get nasty hum from ground loops. Unfortunately, generally speaking, no two amps have the exact same ground potential... Quote
kh15 Posted August 1, 2005 Author Report Posted August 1, 2005 i got the morley aby switch and when i switch to just my marshall i get a nasty hum from that crappy laney but when i switch to the laney and the marshall is no on its totally silent so its just the crappy amp but oh well Quote

kh15 Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 (edited) damn, well when you go to gigs and shows and stuff im sure thier switching between amps how do they cut all that hum out? Edited August 2, 2005 by kh15 Quote
Paul Marossy Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 damn, well when you go to gigs and shows and stuff im sure thier switching between amps how do they cut all that hum out? ← They must be using isolated A/B boxes or are somehow making the amps have a common ground... Quote
lovekraft Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Reread Paul's post above about ground loops - and get rid of that rubbish Morley. Like he said, it's gonna take an isolated box to make it work, and you're not going to be able to pick one up for $50.00. Check out the Lehle amp switcher, The Pete Cornish A/B/mute pedal and the Radial JX2 Switchbone (among others) - that's the kind of A/B box you'll need to use two amps. If it doesn't have either isolated outputs or a ground lift, you're not going to be able to reliably switch amps with it, period. Quote

lovekraft Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Mmmm....Pete Cornishhh... http://www.massstreetmusic.com/show_indv.p...tem=01893&img=1 Yeah, his stuff doesn't look like much, and it's ridiculously expensive, but it's bulletproof and always sounds great! I sure wish I could afford a TES or two. Quote
Paul Marossy Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 I wonder if that enclosure is made out of wood. I know a lot of his custom pedalboards are made out of wood that is painted black... Quote
crafty Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Maybe tomorrow I'll have to go over to Mass Street Music and check it out...I only live about a half-hour away from Lawrence. It's Friday, I ain't got no job, and I ain't got s*** to do, so I'm going to Lawrence to check out the Pete Cornish A/B box!! If gas isn't too expensive, that is Quote
