weezerboy
heyo folks, im in the process of building a rat, and this morning my package of components arrived, and the resistors are freakin huge. they're 2w, will these work ok? bear in mind, i can solder, thats about as far as my electronic expertise goes
crafty
Sure. They're just designed to dissipate more power before burning up in a "letting of the smoke".
TeiscosRock
2w? Good GOD, man! They'll work, but next time try and get a hold of some 1/4w or 1/2w resistors!
lovekraft
Weezer, don't sweat it - we've all done it! So long as you can fit 'em in the box (and still lift it ), they're perfect. Besides, if anybody gives you grief about it, simply tell them you "...selected the overrated resistors because of their improved noise density..", and walk away casually, whistling. crafty
Plus, nothing looks sweeter than a couple of ceramic blocks inside a pedal called a Rat! Them there are man-sized resistors! You can tell everyone that because it's heavier, it's better quality.
Opencan
no no, the weight is only because I use top quility casted metal shielding.... nothing to do with HUGH RESISTORS... nothing at all.. and walk away red of shame But be sure, thoes resistors won't burn quickly (the battery will die faster..)
