butcherboy
Hi all, can someone help me? whenjoining a two peace body down the centre do you need buscuit joints or dowl joints or can it just be glued and clamped up?? matt
krazyderek
dowl would probably be a little to tricky to get right... i often thought about using my dad's biscut jointer, but most people on here i think just glue'em up and clamp them together. daveq
I have used dowels without too much trouble. All you need is a pack of those handy dowel insert things. They mark where the hole on the other piece needs to be drilled. I don't know if biscuits are appropriate or not. Others on this site will probably be able to tell you. Brian
Actually all three work, there is no rule for it and since the stress to the wood is usually from the neck as long as your not making a funky joint that goes across the body from side to side I wouldn't worry about it
Scott Rosenberger
Actually if done correctly, the glue joint is stronger than the wood around it
westhemann
it is not necessary but biscuit joints or dowels might help keep the joint from creeping until the glue sets
