Hunter
Er? Your old Classical into a Steel String? It won't work unless you reinforce the bridge. Believe me, that's how I ruined my first guitar which happened to be a nylon string. The bridge ripped right out.
Southpa
Just to add, the neck is very likely not suited for steel strings as well. Most classical guitars do not sport a truss rod. You would also have to use a different nut as the slots on a classical nut are much wider.
Mattia
You'd need a new top and a reinforced neck, most likely. But definitely a new top.
Setch
new top, new neck, new nut, new bridge... basically, a new guitar. Hey, there's an idea.... you could get a new guitar Seriously not a great investment of time, it would be easier to build a new instument or try tp track down a steel string with a trashed top to rebuild.
