unsane
i defretted an old epiphone strat i had lying around and filled in the slots. since i'm finishing the back of the neck and headstock with tung oil, i was wondering if i could do this on the fretboard as well? as its just a fun little project i'm not really intending to do the whole epoxy coating on the fretboard, maybe just a poly clear on top of it. what are the pros and cons of unfinished/finished boards? more sustain? less wear on the board? i've got the board sanded down to 1200grit right now and i love the way it feels.. Ledzendrix1128
well if your gonna put a poly clear on the fret board, i wouldnt bother putting tung oil on it too. I think poly works better when its put on directly on wood vs over a coat of oil. I think you CAN do it, but i dont really see the point.
