5150rocker
Does anybody know how to chrome a guitar like Satriani?

thegarehanman
I imagine it must be paint. I have no clue how you'd get the copper base on a guitar body to apply the chrome to.

Duff Beer Man
there are ways to get just a chrome top. There is a mirror plastic out there and u can add a vaneer of that to the front of your project. I did this on my bad horsie jem that im currently building. Mickguard
At the auto parts store they have rattle cans of chrome paint --has anyone tried that out? (I'm curious about using it for pickguards, etc.)
soapbarstrat
"chrome paint" is just silver. Not even close to real chrome where you can see your reflection in it. If there would be a "truth in labeling" crack-down, you wouldn't see any "chrome paint" for sale.

It isn't chrome at all, just "silver"...
soapbarstrat
Looked at the Sims site and one "chrome" guitar pic. Never saw that stuff before. Looks to me like silver paint, then a high gloss over it, to cause the reflection, but kind of fuzzy-distorted, not what you'd want the chrome on your car or motorcycle to look like. LGM Guitars
No Seriously, read this http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=11008 Chrome finishes, including the Alsa paints.....
Nitefly SA
rustoleum makes a pretty good chrome paint but it turns dull grey when cleared, at least it did with me
